atmosphere closest to the earth's surface. Ozone has been designated as a
criterion pollutant since its presence can affect the health and well being of
human life. Many other types of hydrocarbon vapors have been deemed as
hazardous, carcinogens or toxic to human life and reducing the possibility of
exposure to these compounds, HAPs, has led to their control.
