To satisfy environmental concerns and performance levels demanded now and envisaged for the future, VEC systems (see photo) applied today should be capable of addressing emissions from the atmospheric breathing of storage tanks and from product tranfers to storage tanks, ships and barges, road tankers and rail cars and drum fill stations.
The design of both the vapour collection facility and the vapour processing unit should embrace concerns normally held for product integrity, operational safety and storage flexibility. The design philosophy should be readily adaptable to the existing terminals and capable of augmenting other techologies, such as vapour balancing systems, so as to secure the most cost-effective overall VEC design.
