Vapour Loss Minimisation

Initial attention should be given to applying cost-effective vapor emission minimisation techniques as these serve to conserve product which is otherwise lost or reduce the overall size, and hence the cost, of the vapour collection and processing unit which would otherwise be necessary. Vapour minimisation techniques, considered for the more volatile chemicals, usually consist of the application of one or a combination of the following:

• Pressure and vacuum relief vents
• Floating roofs covers
• Vapour balancing/vapour return lines
• Vent condensing
